Produced by Max Divani in Italy during the 1980s, this two seat sofa carries the soft sculptural proportions that defined much of the period’s high end leather upholstery, where comfort and visual weight were treated as part of the same design language. Thick black leather upholstery wraps deeply cushioned seats, oversized arms and a generous backrest, while the curved aluminium base gives the form lift and prevents the piece from reading as heavy despite its substantial presence. The balance between softness and structure places it firmly within the more resolved side of late modern Italian interiors rather than casual lounge furniture. This works best in rooms where the seating is expected to hold the architecture rather than disappear into it, particularly against stone floors, timber joinery or restrained neutral palettes. It has the kind of presence that suits quiet, permanent interiors rather than fast decorative turnover.
