1970s Post and Rail Solid Timber with Saddle Leather Dining Table and Chairs
1970s Post and Rail Solid Timber with Saddle Leather Dining Table and Chairs
Built with the calm assurance of weight, joinery and use rather than gesture.
Produced in Australia during the 1970s, this post and rail dining suite reflects a period when domestic furniture was engineered to last rather than impress. The extension table is constructed from solid timber with exposed rail connections and visible fasteners, paired with six saddle leather dining chairs including two carvers and four standards, each mounted on castors for practical daily movement. The leather has aged into a deep, worked surface and the timber frame carries a darkened patina from decades of use. Together the set feels settled, capable and quietly resolved, suited to rooms where dining is lived in rather than staged.
