Italian leather sofas from the late 1980s and early 1990s were designed around comfort without sacrificing visual presence. This example features generously proportioned layered cushions resting on a structured upholstered plinth base, a design language closely associated with the era's leading Italian manufacturers including Nicoletti Salotti. The combination of oversized cushioning, sculptural arm profiles and fully upholstered supports gives the piece a distinctly postmodern character while maintaining the softness expected of high quality Italian residential furniture. This is the sort of sofa more often found in established interiors where comfort has been considered as carefully as the architecture itself. Upholstered in a warm buttercream leather, it brings a softness and warmth that works particularly well alongside stone, timber, chrome and glass, while its compact footprint makes it equally suited to apartments, studios and smaller living spaces.
