Maitland Smith Style Tessellated Stone Tables | Grand Proportions
Maitland Smith Style Tessellated Stone Tables | Grand Proportions
Substantial, grounded and unapologetically architectural in scale, these tessellated stone tables bring weight and permanence into a room without heaviness.
Commissioned in the 1980s for a Sydney couple’s luxury holiday residence at Sanctuary Cove on the Gold Coast, the suite reflects a period when furniture was conceived as structure rather than surface. Hand laid stone panels are resolved with fine bronze inlay, drawing controlled linear lines through corners and edges with restraint and precision. Each table carries the same disciplined language and material authority, allowing the set to read as a unified interior composition or as singular pieces with equal gravity and presence.
