Nicoletti Salotti has been producing leather seating in Italy since the 1960s, working within a tradition of considered upholstery that prioritises material quality and formal presence over trend. The Ambassador suite carries the visual language of 1980s Italian postmodern design with confidence, the low slung profile, angular black leather wrapped base structure, and deeply cushioned aubergine leather seating creating a combination that reads as both severe and generous depending on the light. The base treatment is particularly resolved, with solid black leather clad block legs and an octagonal frame edge that gives each piece a deliberate architectural quality from every angle. This colour sits in a narrow register between dark plum and midnight blue that is rare in original leather at this age and in this condition. A room being resolved around this suite already knows what it is doing.
