Modelled in terracotta in the twentieth century, this figure draws directly from the sculptural language of West Mexican Nayarit traditions, echoing the seated forms once associated with ritual, ceremony and remembrance. Hand built with applied details across the headdress and necklace, it carries the expressive proportions and stylistic cues that defined the original shaft tomb figures of Western Mexico. Its weathered surface and patterned wear add to the sense of age, suggesting a life shaped by time, touch and display. A piece that feels inherited from an older visual tradition, carrying the atmosphere of its lineage.
