Original 1950s Milo Baughman Scoop Lounge Chair | American Mid Century

$5,600.00

A low, confident gesture of postwar American design that brings an atmospheric presence into any room.
Designed by Milo Baughman for Thayer Coggin in the 1950s, the Scoop lounge chair became one of the most recognisable seating profiles of the era, defined by its continuous arc, its relaxed posture and its deliberate simplicity. Produced during a period when American designers were refining the transition between domestic comfort and modernist restraint, the chair’s curved seat and blackened steel legs placed it firmly within the vocabulary of mid century living. This example was reupholstered many decades ago in soft white leather, echoing the spirit of the early white vinyl versions, and now carries the gentle surface character expected of a vintage piece that has moved through time. An authentic early production chair that holds the atmosphere of Baughman’s original intent.
