Scandinavian enamel work of the mid twentieth century often carried a strange pull. Images simplified to their essence. Figures arranged in rows that feel both ancient and modern. This enamel on copper plate sits in that territory with layered pigments fused into a darkened surface that reveals people, animals, and birds held in quiet procession.
The work has the traits of handmade Scandinavian enamelware. A naive scene rendered with intention. A mid century object that delivers atmosphere with very little effort.
