This vintage fallow deer taxidermy shoulder mount is presented on a shaped timber shield and carries a thirteen point rack with the broad palmated antlers characteristic of the species. The antlers are the reason to buy it, extending beyond the head in an irregular spread that gives the mount considerably more presence than its shield suggests. At 87cm high and projecting 70cm from the wall, it occupies genuine spatial volume rather than reading as flat decoration, bringing natural texture, age and a slightly confrontational atmosphere to a room.
