1960s Danish Modern Armchair in the Style of Slagelse Møbelværk
1960s Danish Modern Armchair in the Style of Slagelse Møbelværk
Dating to the 1960s, this high backed armchair is aligned with the compact upholstered seating associated with Danish maker Slagelse Møbelværk. Its shaped back and gently flared arms are fully upholstered in a richly striped red textile and raised on four tapered timber legs. The decisive feature is the tension between its narrow footprint and tall enveloping back, giving the chair considerably more presence than its modest dimensions suggest. The warm timber and saturated upholstery bring colour and intimacy to a bedroom, reading corner or living space while retaining the disciplined proportions of Danish modern design.
