1970s Brutalist Modernist New Guinea Rosewood Three Seat Lounge
1970s Brutalist Modernist New Guinea Rosewood Three Seat Lounge
A striking 1970s three seat lounge in New Guinea rosewood, conceived around the presence of its solid timber frame. Broad horizontal rails, three individually shaped back supports and substantial open arms are carried by an architectural base with strongly profiled feet. The warm golden timber and pronounced grain bring richness to the powerful geometric form.
Its confident construction and restrained detailing have strong visual affinities with French architectural furniture of the 1970s, including the solid timber modernist language associated with Maison Regain. The interest here is in the form, scale and craftsmanship rather than a claimed designer attribution.
The existing floral upholstered cushions are included. A designer rework is also available with the cushions recovered in a selected fabric from our collection of vintage dead stock. This service carries an additional fee determined by the fabric selected.
