Early 20th Century Floral Oil Painting by Lyall Trindall in French Provincial Gilt Frame
A substantial early 20th century floral oil painting signed Lyall Trindall, presented in its original French Provincial gilt frame with deeply cast shell and foliate detailing. The work depicts a soft still life of roses in a handled vessel, painted with the muted palette and layered surface texture typical of decorative Australian interiors of the period. The aged backing paper and provenance from the granddaughter of an active importer from the 1920s and 1930s give the piece stronger context than decorative wall art alone. This belongs in an interior where original artwork is chosen for permanence rather than simply to fill wall space. The scale and softened patina let it sit naturally above a console, sideboard, or bedroom chest without feeling staged.
