Designed by Jorge Pensi for Amat in Barcelona in 1986, the Toledo Chair has become one of the defining achievements of contemporary Spanish furniture design. Cast in aluminium as a single flowing shell before being paired with a tubular aluminium frame, its combination of lightness, strength and sculptural precision earned the design international recognition and a place in museum collections. More than four decades after its introduction, it remains one of the most enduring aluminium chair designs ever produced. Authentic examples continue to be sought after as both practical seating and collectible design icons.
