Palm Beach glamour, brash by design.
Executed in classic pencil reed, this oversized high back chair leans fully into exaggerated coastal geometry, with a looped crest and sweeping rear profile that refuse to be subtle. Acquired in Singapore in the 1980s by an Australian banking couple and brought home to Sydney, the suite is believed to be of Italian origin, reflecting the cross currents of tropical modernist design circulating through Southeast Asia at the time. The vertical reed work, arched base supports, and generous scale give the piece presence well beyond standard dining proportions. Used as a statement accent, desk chair, or occasional seat, it holds a room with intent rather than simply serving the table.
