Hand thrown in the Philippines in the late 20th century, this vessel sits within mid century studio pottery practice, drawing from classical amphora proportions filtered through a modern utilitarian approach. The body is wheel thrown earthenware or low fired stoneware, finished using layered mineral slip washes rather than glaze, allowing iron and copper oxides to settle directly into the clay. Soft green and muted salmon tones emerge through wiping and firing variation, creating a surface that reads architectural and considered, with no reliance on ornament. It works comfortably in image led interiors, private collections, and alongside serious furniture and art.
