Produced in the studio pottery tradition of the mid 20th century, this plate shows controlled drip glazing over a deep iron rich body, fired to allow mineral variation, pooling, and edge darkening to remain visible. The palette and finish sit comfortably within the post war studio ceramics movement, where functional forms became vehicles for material experimentation rather than decoration. Made as an object to be used or displayed, it holds visual weight without excess, letting surface, fire, and hand remain evident.
