An elaborately decorated Rococo Revival slipper chair with a tall, sculptural back, low upholstered seat and richly worked frame in an aged cream crackle finish. Scrolling foliage, pierced ornament and gold toned highlights articulate the shaped crest, seat rail and cabriole legs, giving the chair a theatrical silhouette.

The upholstery is a densely patterned floral velvet in shades of antique gold, olive and ivory, arranged across a deeply cushioned seat and vertically upholstered back. The combination of ornate painted surfaces and textured fabric draws on the decorative language of European Rococo Revival furniture, while the unusually low seat places it within the tradition of boudoir and occasional seating.

The contrast between the height of the back and the compact footprint gives this decorative chair a distinct presence, whether placed in a bedroom, dressing room, entrance hall or layered interior.
